Prof. Juraj Gazda, Vice Rector of the Technical University of Košice and Head of IISLab, has been named a finalist for the ESET Science Award in the category Outstanding Academic.
His work connects university education with advanced research and practical applications. At IISLab, research focuses on artificial intelligence, robotics, communication networks, medical applications, and quantum technologies, with an emphasis on bringing research results into real world practice.
Prof. Gazda emphasizes that in the age of artificial intelligence, students must go beyond simply using AI tools. Strong foundations in mathematics, analytical thinking, problem solving, and responsibility for results remain essential. This philosophy is also reflected in TUKE’s development of new study programs in areas including quantum computing technologies and medical informatics.
The nomination represents an important recognition of the work being carried out at TUKE and IISLab in research, innovation, and the education of the next generation of specialists.
