Prof. Juraj Gazda, delivered a keynote speech at INTCOM 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic, entitled “The Future of Autonomous Mobility: AI, Digital Twins, and the Vehicular Metaverse.”

The keynote outlined the evolution of autonomous driving from driver-assistance systems to fully autonomous vehicles and discussed the related technological, communication, and artificial-intelligence challenges. Particular attention was devoted to connected and autonomous vehicles, edge computing, digital twins, AI-based perception and decision-making, and real-time synchronization between physical environments and their virtual representations.

Prof. Gazda presented recent research on Radiance Field Delta Video Compression (RFDVC), which uses radiance-field-based digital twins to reduce communication overhead by transmitting only dynamic scene changes instead of complete video streams. The related paper, “Radiance Field Delta Video Compression in Edge-Enabled Vehicular Metaverse,” has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Open Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems.

The keynote presented a vision of future autonomous mobility supported by AI-native communication, edge intelligence, and immersive digital environments.
